What’s up, Google?

I was fascinated by our dear Google’s logo as of March 24, 2011. I like it ’cause it’s RED and it looks like a the logo from our favorite board game Monopoly. Am I the only one who noticed it? Hope not.

What’s the reason behind the logo?

Well, I Google-d (as usual) it and according to it’s sources, today is 137th birth of the legendary American magician (Hungarian by birth) Harry Houdini. Google will always be there to celebrate the said occasion.

Harry Houdini was a great Escapologist. He gave a demonstration of escape from handcuffs at Scotland Yard, that completely baffled the police then. They were left clueless (literally).

Houdini could free himself from jails, handcuffs, chains, ropes, and even straitjackets. And as his popularity began to grow, Houdini became widely popular as “The Handcuff King.”

What’s his best escape, you ask? The “Milk Can Escape,” in which Houdini would be handcuffed, then sealed inside an over-sized milk can filled with water. Houdini did, of course, escape.Chinese Water Torture Cell is the next iteration of this trick, which Houdini held copyrights of.

Houdini was not only a magician and escapologist, but also a film producer and myth buster!
